Privacy Policy
We treat your family's information with the care it deserves. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we protect it under South Africa's POPIA.
Last updated: 27 July 2026
Who we are
LifeFile SA ("we", "us") provides a family legacy and preparedness platform for South African households. For privacy questions, contact us at hello@lifefilesa.co.za.
What we collect
- Account details such as name, email, and mobile number.
- Information you enter into your LifeFile (profile, registers, documents, assessment answers).
- Technical data such as device type, IP address, and basic usage analytics needed to run and secure the service.
We do not store banking passwords, PINs, or one-time OTPs. For digital assets we store instructions on where information can be found — never the secrets themselves.
Why we process your information
- To provide and improve the LifeFile platform (contract / legitimate interest).
- To send service messages, assessment follow-ups, and support replies you request.
- To meet legal obligations and protect the security of the platform.
Security & storage
Data is stored with encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access controls. Document uploads are stored in secured cloud storage associated with your account. We aim to host and process data with providers that support strong security practices suitable for personal information under POPIA.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with processors who help us run the product (for example hosting, email delivery, and authentication), under agreements that require them to protect it — or when the law requires disclosure.
Your rights (POPIA)
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to certain processing, subject to legal limits. To exercise these rights, email hello@lifefilesa.co.za. You can also export or delete content from your account settings where those tools are available.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward if needed for backups, disputes, or legal requirements. You may request earlier deletion subject to those limits.
Children
LifeFile SA is intended for adults managing family preparedness. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
